The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally scheduled its presidential primaries for Saturday, 31st January 2026, following a critical meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) on Tuesday, 17th June 2025.

The announcement was made by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, paving the way for a competitive internal race to choose the party’s next flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

“The Committee also spoke about the time for our presidential primaries. And again, the Committee agrees that that decision does not warrant amendment of our Constitution. And the National Council today also made the decision that the date for our presidential primaries is set for January 31, 2026. That will be the date that we shall hold our presidential primaries.”

Excitement is building within the party as both seasoned politicians and emerging aspirants are expected to vie for the presidential slot.

According to party insiders, nomination procedures, campaign timelines, and conduct regulations for aspirants will be made public in the coming weeks.

The NEC has assured its membership and the broader public of a fair and credible process that reflects the NPP’s commitment to democratic principles.
