The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has secured a court injunction against the National Labour Commission in a bid to prevent any disruption of its ongoing industrial action involving staff of the Births and Deaths Registry.
According to the Association, the legal move is to shield their strike from interference, following what they describe as sustained verbal abuse of their members by the Registrar of the department, Samuel Adom Botchwey.
“The Civil and Local Government Stall Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has filed an injunction on the National Labour Commission restraining them from interfering with the on-going industrial action by the staff of the Births and Deaths Registry,” a letter dated June 20 stated.
CLOGSAG declared the strike after raising concerns over the Registrar’s alleged misconduct. The Association insists that the strike will not end until the grievances of its members are addressed and disciplinary action is taken.
“The staff of Births and Deaths Registry should stay at home until safe and congenial working environment are guaranteed as indicated in our letter No. BAJ-I6/SF. I dated 12′ June, 2025. CLOGSAG would continue to strive for conducive atmosphere to provide at the Births and Deaths Registry. Be bold and fight for your right to work under safe and humane conditions,” CLOGSAG President Isaac Bampoe-Addo wrote.
As of now, both the National Labour Commission and Mr. Botchwey have yet to issue official responses to the latest developments.
