Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) has strongly criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and National Security for a surprise raid on its offices in Osu and Tema. The company described the operation, which took place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, as “unwarranted and unjustified” and warned that it could severely impact Ghana’s national revenue assurance system.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 11, SML alleged that the raid was conducted “without prior notice, formal engagement, or presentation of a warrant,” despite the company’s cooperation with the OSP.

SML claimed it had submitted all requested documents by March 27, 2025, and remained open to further inquiries.

However, the company reported that critical equipment including servers, gold analysers, IT infrastructure, and key documents were removed or damaged during the operation. Additionally, four staff members were temporarily detained, while two were allegedly assaulted.

As a result, SML’s real-time fuel monitoring services for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have been disrupted. Monitoring activities at 26 petroleum depots have halted, and systems used to track fuel volumes and tax exposure have gone offline.

The company cautioned that this disruption could lead to illegal fuel loading at night and manipulation of fuel records.

Financially, SML estimated that the disruption could result in tax leakages and delayed reconciliations amounting to over GHS 348 million per month.

The company noted that its systems had previously helped reduce discrepancies between GRA and NPA figures by 92%, contributing more than GHS 20 billion in extra revenue since 2020.

SML also expressed concern about the safety of its intellectual property, which it claimed was removed without legal protections and could now be vulnerable to misuse. The company has appealed to the GRA, Ministry of Finance, and other government agencies to intervene and restore its systems.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, innovation, and national development, SML warned that the raid could undo years of progress.
