The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) has reiterated its commitment to partnering with the government to accelerate the country’s economic transformation through strategic marketing initiatives.

This assurance was made by CIMG President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Michael Abbiw, during a high-level meeting with Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah.

Mr. Abbiw commended the Chief of Staff for the successful execution of the Kwahu Business Forum, a platform designed to empower indigenous businesses and promote entrepreneurship. He proposed that the initiative be extended across all 16 regions to establish a globally recognized platform for showcasing Ghanaian enterprises.

Additionally, he introduced two key research-driven initiatives the Regional Brand Index and the Consumer Survey Index aimed at measuring customer satisfaction and promoting both regional and national branding strategies. “These indices would provide data-driven insights to inform policy and marketing strategies at the national level,” Mr. Abbiw noted.

During the meeting, Mr. Abbiw formally invited the Chief of Staff to attend two upcoming flagship events: the African Marketing Confederation (AMC) Conference scheduled for August 20–22, 2025, in Accra, and the National Sales Leaders Conference (NSLC) set to take place from August 19–21 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

In response, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah expressed appreciation for CIMG’s proactive engagement in supporting government initiatives.

He welcomed the Institute’s offer of collaboration and affirmed the President’s willingness to position Ghana as a preferred conference destination within Africa.

Touching on professional development, Mr. Debrah commended CIMG’s introduction of professional marketing qualifications, emphasizing that localizing the curriculum makes certification more accessible and relevant for Ghanaian professionals. “This approach helps to reduce reliance on foreign exchange, making certification more accessible to a wider group of professionals,” he remarked.

He further acknowledged CIMG’s involvement in the Brand Ghana Agenda and invited the Institute to submit a formal proposal outlining how it can support the government in that regard.
