Fuel prices at Ghana’s retail pumps are expected to increase from the first pricing window of July 1, 2025, according to the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC).
COMAC’s projections suggest that petrol may go up by 2 percent, diesel by 5 percent, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by about 1 percent. This marks the first upward adjustment in fuel prices at the pump since February 2025.
Speaking at a news conference in Accra, Chief Executive of COMAC, Dr. Riverson Oppong, cautioned that the price hikes were anticipated even before any potential tax changes. “Even before the implementation of the amended Energy Sector Levy which has been suspended, our projections indicate that pump prices may be going up,” he said.
“I can say petrol is likely to go up by 2 percent, LPG may witness a little above 1 percent and Diesel will likely increase by 5 percent. This is after taking all factors into consideration, including NPA price build ups,” he stated.
Dr. Oppong further called for a regulatory review of the petroleum downstream sector to ensure more cost-effective operations.
