The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) boss, Mr. Simon Madjie, has lauded the United Arab Emirates’ proposed $1 billion innovation hub as a major leap forward for Ghana’s digital development and its position in global technology.
During a meeting with UAE Ambassador to Ghana, Dr. Abdulla Almandoos, Mr. Madjie emphasized the significance of the project, stressing that “this initiative can accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation and position the country as a hub for technological excellence in the region.”
The innovation hub, to be entirely funded by the UAE’s Ports, Customs and Free Zones Corporation (PCFC), is slated to break ground in 2026 and wrap up by the end of 2027, with Ghana providing the land.
Dr. Almandoos reaffirmed the mutual advantages the project holds and encouraged telecom players to take up space in the facility. He indicated that UAE licenses would be made available to all companies operating within the hub, and explained that “this Ghana-UAE Innovation and Technology Hub aims to drive sustainable growth, foster collaboration, and boost innovation across various sectors.”
