The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, has embarked on a strategic working visit to three key Free Zone Enterprises within the Tema Export Processing Zone (EPZ), reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to building strong partnerships with industry players and advancing Ghana’s export-led industrialization agenda.
The visit, part of Dr. Awusi’s ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts, saw her interact with executives and staff of AMP Logistics Limited, Barry Callebaut Ghana Limited, and the soon-to-be rebranded TF Commodities Limited.
The engagements provided the CEO and her team with critical insights into the operations, successes, and challenges of these enterprises.
At AMP Logistics, Dr. Awusi was welcomed by CEO Mr. Joe Forson and his management team.
She commended the company’s innovative approach, particularly its recent acquisition of Chocomac Ghana Limited—now TF Commodities Limited—as a strategic move into the cocoa processing sector.
“This level of ambition aligns with the strategic goals we promote within the Free Zones programme,” she noted.
During a tour of AMP’s logistics and cocoa processing facilities, Dr. Awusi expressed satisfaction with the company’s stability and resilience, describing it as a reflection of both management’s innovation and GFZA’s supportive regulatory environment.
The second leg of the tour took Dr. Awusi to Barry Callebaut Ghana Limited, a major player in the global cocoa and chocolate industry.
In a meeting with Managing Director Mr. Ibrahim Menkeh M., the company acknowledged GFZA’s responsiveness to its operational concerns.
Dr. Awusi emphasised the Authority’s continued commitment to engaging proactively with stakeholders to resolve issues and support growth.
She was accompanied on the tour by the Deputy CEO for Operations, Mr. Apau Wiredu Lateef, and other senior GFZA officials.
The visits also highlighted how these enterprises are contributing to the government’s 24-Hour Economy Policy, a national strategy aimed at boosting productivity and economic growth.
“Our mission at GFZA is to create a responsive, business-friendly ecosystem that allows our enterprises to thrive. These engagements are critical to that mission,” Dr. Awusi stated.
