Ghana’s Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industries, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has strongly encouraged Sunda Ghana Company Limited to leverage the government’s forthcoming 24-hour economy programme.
During her recent visit to Sunda Ghana, a prominent manufacturer of fast-moving consumer goods in the ECOWAS region.
This initiative, aimed at enhancing productivity and operational efficiency, is expected to provide significant opportunities for local industries.
With a total investment of $240 million and the capacity to produce essential goods such as baby diapers, washing powder, and sanitary pads, Sunda Ghana plays a vital role in the national economy.
During her tour of the company’s facilities, Ofosu-Adjare highlighted the impressive job creation efforts, noting that with a shift to a three-shift work system, employee numbers could surpass 10,000.
The Minister expressed confidence that, by maximizing production and taking advantage of the 24-hour economy initiative, Sunda Ghana could reduce imports while expanding its market reach.
“If they are able to operate at full capacity, we can significantly decrease our reliance on imports for essential products,” she stated.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare also discussed the government’s commitment to supporting local industries in overcoming challenges such as smuggling.
She underscored that with proactive policies and initiatives like the 24-hour economy programme, the government is dedicated to fostering a conducive environment for growth and sustainability in the manufacturing sector.
